2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI Priced at $31,495, Golf R at $44,995
July 28 2021,
The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R have been completely redesigned with a new, more luxurious interior, better performance from their engines, and improved vehicle dynamics. Volkswagen announced earlier in July that the Golf GTI would start at $31,495 while the 2022 Volkswagen Golf R starts at just under $45,000.
That means that both cars will continue to offer one of the best price/performance ratios in the industry. Both are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with the GTI developing 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The Golf R offers 315 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque (280 pound-feet with the six-speed manual).
Thanks to Volkswagen’s new Vehicle Dynamics Manager, the GTI and Golf R will feature the best handling dynamics ever. The system controls and optimizes various technologies such as electronic stability control and the available adaptive suspension to ensure the highest level of grip and performance depending on the driving situation. Other new features include a rear axle torque-vectoring system included in the Golf R’s 4Motion AWD system which can send up to 100% of the torque to an individual rear wheel, and in the process essentially creating a “drift mode”.
The interior of both cars is a lot more luxurious as well. Notable features include 30 ambient lighting options, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, golf-ball shifter for the GTI along with tartan seats, an available head-up display, and various data recording features found within the infotainment system.
The new Golf GTI and Golf R are more refined and upscale than ever, but they also perform better than ever. Give us a call today to learn more about these two new performance models from Volkswagen.
