How 4Motion all-wheel drive will get you through winter
October 22 2021,
The 2022 Volkswagen lineup offers many models with all-wheel drive including the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan, the Volkswagen Golf R, and the Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. You have likely seen the 4Motion emblem before out on the road, and you may have noticed that Volkswagen models tend to get through just about anything winter throws at them. That’s the impressive 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
How does 4Motion all-wheel drive work?
4Motion all-wheel drive is one of the most advanced in the world. It is designed to provide Volkswagen drivers absolute control and confidence, but without negatively impacting fuel economy. There’s a lot to love about the Volkswagen all-wheel drive system, let’s take a closer look.
Ultimately, 4Motion all-wheel drive sends the engine’s power to the front wheels when the road is clear. So, under normal circumstances, you enjoy the benefits of a front-wheel drive vehicle when it comes to fuel economy.
However, the system is continuously monitoring road conditions and wheel slippage in order to quickly detect any loss of traction. Should a loss of traction be detected, the system can send up to 50% of the available torque to the rear wheels. This means that your Volkswagen will immediately have the traction needed to find its footing and remain stable.
The 4Motion system is available in the following vehicles (price is with the 4Motion all-wheel drive system included).
