Volkswagen Taos Gets Mid-Cycle Refresh with New Styling, Technology, and Engine Power
September 25 2024,
Volkswagen Canada has revealed the extensively revamped 2025 Taos, showcasing a daring exterior redesign, enhanced technological features, and a more powerful engine. The reimagined compact SUV is scheduled to reach Canadian showrooms in early 2025, presenting customers with an innovative iteration of this sought-after model.
The 2025 Taos boasts a striking new front-end design, incorporating a redesigned bumper and grille with an available light bar. LED projector headlights, now standard across all trims, enhance both visibility and aesthetic appeal. The rear of the vehicle has also received attention, with connected taillights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge contributing to a more upscale appearance.
Expanding the Taos' visual palette, Volkswagen has introduced three new paint colours: Serrano Green Metallic, Monterey Blue Pearl, and Alpine Grey. The vehicle's look is further customizable with new wheel designs, ranging from 17 to 19 inches, varying across trim levels.
Inside the cabin, the 2025 Taos showcases a contemporary dashboard design featuring an integrated 8-inch floating infotainment display as standard equipment on all models. A new dual-zone automatic Climatronic HVAC system with touch control adds to the vehicle's comfort and convenience features. Volkswagen has also implemented new acoustic dampening treatments to reduce interior noise, enhancing the overall driving experience.
The Taos offers a range of interior options to suit different preferences. Trendline models feature cloth upholstery, while Comfortline trims come equipped with MicroCloud leatherette materials. The Highline models boast leather seats, including a new "Blue Night" dark blue option. For those seeking a more distinctive look, the Comfortline Black Edition includes unique black styling elements.
Under the hood, the 2025 Taos receives a significant power boost. The revised 1.5-litre turbocharged engine now delivers 174 horsepower, up from the previous 158 hp. This increase comes courtesy of several modifications, including revised piston rings, a modified turbo housing, a larger intercooler, and a new gasoline particulate filter.
In a move to improve drivability, Volkswagen has equipped 4MOTION all-wheel-drive models with an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic.
Safety remains a top priority for Volkswagen, with the 2025 Taos offering an expanded range of driver assistance technologies. The IQ.DRIVE suite of features is now available across all trims, including Travel Assist, Front Assist, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist. New additions to the safety roster include Front and Rear Park Distance Control, aiding in parking and maneuvering.
While pricing details for the 2025 Volkswagen Taos will be announced closer to its launch, the comprehensive updates promise to deliver enhanced value to Canadian consumers seeking a stylish, technologically advanced, and versatile compact SUV.
